Tourist Guides’ Federation of South India was inaugurated on 20 June 2007, at Hotel Sangam, Madurai.Mr. V Vasudevan, The Managing Director of Sangam Group of Hotels had graced the occasion and declared open the Federation and our Website. More than 60 Guides from Tamilnadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh participated in the festival and made it a very successful and memorable event. Travel agents, Hoteliers, large group of media people and well wishers also participated in this historical event of the Guides from South India. Many guides who were not in a position to attend the meeting had sent us their greetings.

The Guides who participated in the Conference held a day earlier were appreciative of the idea of TGFSI and felt the need for such an Organization to bring all the Guides of South India under one umbrella. This Unity will lead to the success of many welfare programs for guides which are in store.

The main Objectives of the Federation are:
O To establish contact with Tourist Guides and Guides’ Associations throughout South India and work with TGFI nationally; to reinforce their professional ties and to promote and protect interests of professional tourist guides
O To address grievances and to seek redress
O To conduct lectures, refresher courses and educational trips within India and Abroad
O To promote new destinations in South India
O To get proper escort fees for guides and reduce exploitation of guides.
O To represent professional Tourist Guides and their Associations Nationally and Internationally
O To work for the improvement of quality and reputation of the Profession of Tourist Guides worldwide;
O To hold the Convention of Tourist Guides and the Associations at regular intervals
O To have a Guides Training Institute of International Standard.
